Why is it that the city does not have a website for the dog pound. Just about every other dog pound can be found on the internet. It would be a good way to help get loving homes for the animals there.
Look at the City's website www.torringtonct.org under City Departments. There you will find contact information for the City's dog warden. Of course, a website that shows pictures of dogs that were impounded and those that are available for adoption would be much, much better.
I have wondered about this for years...my dog was lost and I didnt even get a call from the pound. It just so happened I had called to check with the police and they told me our dog was at the pound.
Your Lucky if U can Call & get help if U see a stray dog,I've tried to reach anyone over the years & I think only 1X someone has answered the phone,I am Thankful we don't have a huge animal problem esp when u can't reach Animal Control...
The only thing I can think of is that the turn around is so high there, they would need someone working on the site every day. I go there every few days and there are always new dogs. A couple years ago I kept seeing the same dogs there, but it seems to be different now. Almost all pits there now. The site would just get ignored because of that reason alone, which is a shame. Pitbulls are amazing dogs if you can get to them before a human destroys their nature.
I know a number of people who are looking for dogs and surf the Net for local pounds and shelters to adopt dogs and save their lives. It might be a good feature for the Torr Reg Cit. to run a list of dogs in the pounds in the area. Not just Torrington, but Harwinton, Winsted, Goshen, the Cornwalls, Falls Village, Canaan etc.. Basically all those in Litchfield county. If it were updated once a week I'd help a lot of dogs and potential owners.
