There are two entrances for skate-boarders:
1) Pardall tunnel, where skateboarders are required to dismount.
2) between Del Playa and UCSB. This connector should be the main entrance onto campus for skateboarder-students (or back into Isla Vista). However, there is a 3'x3' sand/gravel area (marked in green on image) that forces skaters to dismount. When skaters attempt to ride through the area, they usually fall, which makes this spot a HUGE liability.
The solution? Fill this 3x3 sand/gravel area at the edge of Isla Vista with concrete, so as to avoid further accidents and permit a smooth transition between Isla Vista and UCSB campus for students.

Two large shade trees in front of Isla Vista Theater were removed in 2011 as part of construction in the area (the sidewalk was dug up for underground work), and the sidewalk has been repaved without space for planting replacement trees. This part of the Embarcadero Loop used to be very nice (see http://www.flickr.com/photos/dreamyshade/4439315662/ and http://i.imgur.com/fP1fk.jpg), and now it is very bare.

There are serious cracks and potholes surrounding the barrier on the west side of the intersection at Picasso and Camino Pescadero. For students who bike to the UCSB campus every day, these cracks are very dangerous and can cause serious accidents.

Please repave this area and keep students safe.
