In less than optimal weather or light conditions, pedestrians can easily not notice this - not to mention a first-timer walking this path at anytime of the day. As a walker who has traveled this sidewalk for the last 8 months (this is how long I have noticed this and mentioned it elsewhere), I know to look out for it after the first few days of near-injury moments in the very early AM. Now we have an open and heavily used Klyde Warren Park across the street, and not only some seasoned commuters walking around in this area. It's long past due to fix this simple little thing. The gap is significant and can easily roll an ankle or cause other injury. Not to mention, the sidewalk is a forbidding moat in-between a main road and a TX U-turn.
(I think we're beyond the need of the Pearl Street TX U-Turn. Same goes for the Akard Street TX U-Turn and subsequent pedestrian nightmare Uptownside, but, the whole deletion of the U-Turns and re-arrangements are for another topic. . .)
