Description
Can't someone put atleast a stop sign in this parking lot? Especially around the holiday season, this parking lot gets extremelly cluttered. There are no lines/order to this parkign lot at all. Eventually I would liek to see something dont about this "parkign lot".

There site is currently going through the review process for a new white castle. The Town planning board is requiring tons of improvements for this lot in order for the white castle to be put in place that will help to improve the flow of traffic on the site (curbing that will totally separate driving lanes from parking areas, new landscaping, new stormater controls, new pedestrian access, new lighting, etc etc).
You can go to the Town of Ulster's building dept to look at a copy of the plans.

Derek: Zoning laws are applicable—or, if there are no Town of Ulster zoning laws that codify the requirements for commercially-zoned properties with parking lots, this parking lot clearly shows that the town needs to hurry up and pass some!
As a matter of public safety, businesses in Ulster should not be allowed to create a free-for-all parking lot in a commercial space; there should be a requirement that a minimum curbing design be implemented to prevent accidents and promote a reasonable traffic flow. For that matter, commercial properties ought to be asked before they get a building permit, "so where are you planning to put the snow in February?" Too many of our local businesses were obviously designed without thought to plowing, and the result is parking spaces filled with snow and blocking vision, creating hazards.

First, any zoning law passed now would basically have to grandfather in any existing designs.
Second, why does this require a zoning law at all. Don't like the parking lot? DON'T VISIT THE BUSINESSES THERE. Vote with your dollars. And tell the business-owners there why you went elsewhere.
It's not that difficult.
