Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Can you please give an accurate cross street of where the potholes are located? Based off our maps, Snake Road does not interest with Grizzly Peak Blvd. This information will help us better process your request. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

  Several SCF requests about this have been submitted this year. Snake Road from Colton down to Mountain is on the recently approved OakDOT three year repave list however it is not known when that segment will be repaved. In the interim, I have repeatedly asked OakDOT to routinely fill and/or slurry potholes until the Road can be repaved to reduce further deterioration. The yellow line also needs to be repainted. We must also make sure that OakDOT uses intersection grade pavement when they do repave it instead of just a simple pavement overlay so that the Road can withstand the stress of uphill and downhill use for more than just about 10 years - Nicholas Vigilante, Montclair Neighborhood Council.
