Description

I live in Marin Lagoon. McInnis and Bridgewater there are two streets for upkeep and regular rounds bring me to contracting the Department of Public Works. Since COVID-19, this street has become a dumping ground. Homeless sleeping by the old building at Autodesk, and the berms of landscaping have increased with debris close to the street and walking paths. The images I have provided show that the street signs are bent traffic polls and old signs you can barely read. The corner of Bridgewater and McInnis is also a hazard to those driving west or eastbound on McInnis has become a huge issue. No one stops at the Bridgewater intersection and many of the residents have almost been T Boned. Last month I nearly on two occasions. It has become dangerous with the increased number of delivery trucks. The City of San Rafael Department of Public Works can act by improving street safety with signages and markings and a speed hump, at Bridgewater entering Waterside. Bridgewater is also the entrance to our community, and it doesn't look very pleasant and has not been maintained since 1989. We pay for the center divider landscaping. This is the city’s property. Since the city stopped maintaining the center landscaping, median, Marin Lagoon pays and maintains this. The first image is speed hump by the stop sign as you approach entering Marin Lagoon. which we have Stop markings falling after the hump not before. Many people that use this city street do not stop, which puts the community at risk. It is not safe. I feel properly painting the street would make them more aware. A sign would help to turn on to Bridgewater. / Please review that additional image. Another concern is the Civic Center across from McInnis. There are cars parked in the red zones to pick up passengers from the train. There are not enough PARKING SIGNS on both sides of the street. It a real Hazzard, that happens every single day. One person this week stopped cold in the middle of the street west bound on McInnis towards Civic Center to pick someone up. Those that parked in the red zone and pick up or drop off then make unsafe U-turns as well. Totally so unsafe. I’d like to see No Upturns signs installed. I would like a comprehensive look at improving McInnis. With signs and understanding that we only have one avenue to leave and enter safely in Marin Lagoon as well as an upgrade for repairs on Bridgewater. I’d like to mention also that many of the trees on Mc Innis were in last Sunday’s windy storm. I would recommend that these be looked at and secure. They were hit hard as well as all the signs at the crosswalk which were newly installed. Sorry, no images. Thank you!
