Could you provide one of the locations in Seattle/Bellevue for us to compare to SE 260 St. My hunch is that those are more likely local or minor collector streets with traffic volumes below 5,000 vehicles per day. SE 260 St in this area is a Major Collector Street (also called a Residential Collector-Arterial) with an average daily traffic volume over 5,000 vehicles per day. SE 260 St is/was designed as a bypass around the congestion on 256th- Kent-Kangley intersection with 104th and to provide access to commercial areas. It's not likely that we would close the street entirely, or only one direction, but we may be able to re-stripe it to include bike lanes at some point in the future.

I'm sorry it has taken us so long to respond. SE 260th St and 108th Ave SE north of SE 260th St are arterial streets and are part of the business bypass around SE 256th St and Kent-Kangley Rd in this area. These streets are also used for commercial truck access to the businesses in the area of 104th Ave SE and SE 260th St.

This area has been designated a County-Wide Growth Center. We expect a planning effort to develop a new vision for this area to start in a few years that may change the future plans for this area.
