  • 4753 Maryland Ave Irondale, Alabama, 35210 - Birmingham
Yard of 4753 Maryland avenue is VERY overgrown and unsightly. Other than being an eye sore, it is a breeding ground for pests. It restricts my view backing out of my driveway as the overgrowth continues all the way to the street, causing a danger every time I leave my home. While it has been out of control for a very long time, neighbors have reached out to me expressing concern. It is a poor representation of the otherwise pleasant looking neighborhood.
If you could direct me on where to find ordinances on yard maintenance and setbacks it would be great. Thank you.

A noticed to destroy weeds was placed on this lot on July 3rd. Unfortunately I was only able to upload one picture but the property is horrible, you can barely see the house. When can my mother and other property owners on this street expect to see this lot cut?

  • 530 Valley Rd Birmingham, Alabama, 35206 - Roebuck Springs
Entire front lawn is completely overgrown and has been as such since June of 2023. With vegetation measuring over 40" in height. The resident states that he is cultivating native species to this lot in order to do God's work in preserving and protecting a natural habitat.
According to The City of Birmingham Code of Ordinances, chapter 8 (c) " Weeds, shrubs, other vegetable growth. It shall be unlawful for any owner, proprietor or other person in charge or control of any lot, place or premises within the city or police jurisdiction thereof, to fail to keep and maintain the same free from injurious, noxious or unsightly weeds, shrubs and other vegetable grass growth higher than 10 inches".
Upon conversing with other neighbors, I was told that this property has been a focus of blight to the area, and of numerous reports to the City of Birmingham, since Summer of 2023. Said property is the only property on the entire street of Valley in which this blight exist. Upon walking by I have observe rodents nesting in overgrowth of said property. I hope that this report will enlighten you to this issue, resulting in a speedy resolution.
    Best Regards
